The Clover platform launched in April 2012 as an Android-based point of sale platform. The Sunnyvale-based company employs more than 500 people worldwide. Clover processed $133 billion in annualized card transactions worldwide in the quarter ended September 2020, making it the largest cloud POS provider in the country.

Clover offers a user-friendly point-of-sale solution for small and medium-sized businesses. The software and hardware can be customized according to your specifications. Whether you are a retailer, a restaurant, or a service provider, Cover can meet your processing and point-of-sale (POS) needs.

Clover Station, Clover’s first hardware solution, debuted in 2013 and began shipping in January 2014. In 2014, a third-party developer application marketplace was opened. Gyft announced the launch of its Gift Cloud Service on Clover in April 2014.

Clover may not be the cheapest platform, but its array of payment partners makes it a great choice for businesses of all sizes. On September 9, 2014, Clever announced its partnership with Apple to offer Apple Pay through its Android POS platform.

Clover was acquired by First Data Corporation in December 2012. In July 2019, First Data Corporation was acquired by Fiserv, a financial services company. Clover POS comes with a Fiserv merchant account; it cannot be separated from its backend payment processing system.
